Captain Aaditya (Sonny) Bhatia began his Army career in 2013 as an enlisted Infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He deployed as an Infantry Team Leader in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and reached the rank of Sergeant.

In 2016, he received his commission in the Cyber branch from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA. He then returned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and served as a Battalion Logistics Officer before proceeding to Fort Eisenhower, GA. As a Cyber officer, he has served as an Executive Officer and Cyber Operations Planner in the 11th Cyber Battalion, Support Element Leader on a National Cyber Protection Team and Company Commander in the Cyber Protection Brigade.

His awards and decorations include Combat Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation.

At the age of 11, he became the youngest Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer in the world. He continued to follow his passion for technology and before joining the military, he worked as a Software Engineer for Yahoo!, EMC, and several startup companies in the Silicon Valley.
