Major Aaron Farnsworth hails from Anderson Indiana where he enlisted into the Infantry in 2002. His first assignment was Fort Benning Georgia where he served as a Carl Gustaf gunner for 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. In 2004 he was assigned to the Indianapolis Recruiting Battalion where he served as a U.S. Army recruiter before he transitioned out of the Army in 2006.
Aaron commissioned and branched Military Intelligence from the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in 2014. From 2014-2018 Aaron was assigned to the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss Texas. Aaron served as a Battalion S-2 of 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion an assistant Battalion S-2 of 1st Battalion 77th Armored Regiment and a Multi-Function platoon leader for the 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion.
From 2018-2021 Aaron was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson Colorado where he served as the Brigade Assistant S-2 of the 4th Sustainment Brigade and Battalion S-2 of the 68th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion. Aaron has deployed once in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003) once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2004) once in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (2016) and once in support of Operation Spartan Shield (2020).
Aaron holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Ball State University and a M.A. in Applied Social Psychology from Claremont Graduate University. Aaron’s awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge Parachutist Badge with Bronze Service Star, Air Assault Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), the Gold Recruiter Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign medal with Campaign Star and Arrowhead device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
Aaron and his wife Heather have one child Lily. They currently reside in West Point NY. Aaron is currently an instructor at the United States Military Academy for MX400 Officership – The Superintendent’s Capstone Course at the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic.
