MAJ Arthur Avery

MAJ Arthur Avery commissioned into the Ordnance Corps from Illinois State University’s ROTC program with a history major in 2014 and has worked in maintenance and logistics at the tactical level for most of his Army career. In 2017-18, he deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, as a NATO maintenance team leader working with United States, Romanian, and Bulgarian forces in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

After his 2018 graduation from the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course at Fort Gregg-Adams, then known as Fort Lee, he served with the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson. There, he commanded the Bravo Maintenance Company, 4th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Stryker Brigade from 2019-21 and completed an M.A. in procurement and acquisition management from Webster University. After command, he earned an M.A. in history from the University of North Texas and currently serves in the Military Division of the USMA Department of History & War Studies.
