Captain David Osgood is a native of Carmel Valley, CA. He enlisted in the United States Army in November 2005 and upon completion of IET, became a 68W, Combat Medic Specialist. He deployed to Baghdad, Iraq from October 2006 to December 2007 with 2nd Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division out of Fort Carson, CO, as a platoon medic for the Combat Engineer Company. After serving as a Medical Readiness NCO in Stuttgart, Germany, he attended the Civil Affairs Qualification Course in 2011 and earned the MOS designation 38B, Civil Affairs Specialist. In the 96th Civil Affairs Battalion, he deployed in a Civil-Military Support Element to Lebanon from October 2012-June 2013. He then deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 as part of Special Operations Task Force-Northeast. Upon selection for the Active Duty Green-to-Gold Program, he attended The University of North Carolina at Pembroke from 2014-2016, receiving a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Public Administration before being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps.
Following BOLC at Fort Lee, VA, he was assigned to 209th Aviation Support Battalion, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade at Wheeler Army Airfield, HI where he served as a Supply Platoon Leader in Alpha Company and later as their Executive Officer. He was later selected to serve as the HHC, 25th CAB’s Executive Officer. In June 2020 he attended Logistics Captain’s Career Course at Fort Lee, VA, and then served as the Assistant Brigade S4 in 25th CAB. In June 2021, he was assigned to 296th Brigade Support Battalion, 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA and served as the Deputy Support Officer before taking command of Fox Forward Support Company in April 2022. While in command, he oversaw the logistics needs of 1-37 Field Artillery Battalion, culminating in NTC Rotation 24-03.
Captain Osgood holds a Master of Science in Project Management from Liberty University, and a Master of Arts in Ethics and Society from Fordham University. He is a graduate of Airborne School, Air Assault School, Survival, Evasion, and Escape Level-C Course and Anti-Terrorism Officer Course. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (6 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Medical Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
Captain Osgood has been married to Heather Osgood since 2005 and they have a daughter, Trista (19), and two sons, David (16), and Jude (9). He is currently serving at the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
