Captain Drew Buffalino is an instructor of American Politics in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point. His research interests include the use of special operations in great power competition and AI applications for military decision-making. An infantry officer by trade, Drew commissioned through Officer Candidate School in 2015. His previous assignments include the 3d Cavalry Regiment, 1st Ranger Battalion, and 101st, Airborne Division (Air Assault).
In 2019 and 2020, Drew deployed to Afghanistan with 1st Ranger Battalion in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. In 2022, Drew deployed to Romania with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in support of Operation European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce, where he served in Bucharest as the liaison officer to Romanian Land Forces Command, U.S. Embassy Bucharest, and NATO Multinational Division Southeast (MND-SE).
He holds a Master of Global Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a M.S. in Homeland Security from Monmouth University.
He is married to his loving wife Danielle.
