Dr. Gary Jordan serves as an assistant professor of civil engineering. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering physics from the United States Military Academy in 1987. His varied educational background includes an MBA (with a concentration in finance) from the University of Maine, an M.A. in economics from the University of New Hampshire, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering (with an emphasis on transportation systems engineering) from the University at Buffalo-State University of New York. 

Dr. Jordan is an active member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA). He serves on AREMA's Education & Professional Development Committee and is a past board member of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr Jordan has also served at local, state, and national levels through various roles including Town Planning Board member, state trooper (Maine), and military officer. 

Dr. Jordan retired from the military as a lieutenant colonel after 23 years of service which included Active Army, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard affiliations. He is a veteran of Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. Before coming to West Point, he completed a post-doctoral assignment at the Alabama Transportation Institute at the University of Alabama and three years as an assistant professor at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
