
CPT James Wagner is an instructor in the International History division of the Department of History & War Studies. CPT Wagner earned his bachelor’s degree in history and was commissioned as an Infantry officer from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
As an Infantry officer CPT Wagner served with the 1st Stryker BCT in the 4th ID at Fort Carson, CO. There, he served as a rifle platoon leader and company executive officer, including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2018 in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. After promoting to captain, he transitioned to the signal branch, where he served as a company commander in the 2d Theater Signal Brigade at Clay Kaserne in Wiesbaden Germany.
CPT Wagner received his master’s in history from the University of Texas at Austin. He is joined by his wife, Taylor, their daughters, Ada and Marcelyn, and their pug, Rocky.
