MAJ John L. MacArthur is an instructor in the Department of Chemical & Biological Science & Engineering, where he teaches biology courses. He enlisted in the Army Reserves in 2001 and served as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and an ammunition supply specialist. After supporting OIF in 2004 and 2009, he received an honorable discharge as a staff sergeant. He then pursued a higher education, earning an A.S. in biology from Delta College, followed by a B.S. in biology and a Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from the University of South Carolina. 

In 2018, MAJ MacArthur commissioned as a Medical Service Corps Officer (71A, Microbiologist) and has worked in both clinical and research roles. Most recently, he served as Chief of Bacteriology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.
