COL Katie E. Matthew, PhD

COL Katie Matthew is a career Army logistician and scholar with experience in joint, special operations, operational, and logistical support elements and has commanded at every level from platoon through battalion. She has served in stateside and abroad units, including five deployments from 2001-2018, and has been an Academy Professor at West Point since 2021. She graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2000 and was commissioned as an Ordnance Officer, assigned to the 58th Maintenance Company, 1st Corps Support Command, Fort Bragg, NC. Currently, COL Matthew serves as Program Director for Sociology for the majors and Program Director for the Eisenhower Leader Development Program for future TACs. Her previous assignments include Commander, Brigade Troop Support Battalion and Camp Buehring, Kuwait 2017-2018; Support Operations Officer, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) 2015-2017; Support Operations Officer, 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division and Battalion Executive Officer, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC 2013-2015. She also served as the Instructor of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the United States Military Academy (2009-2012), Commanding General’s Aide-de-Camp, 1stInfantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas (2006-2007), Commander of Delta Company, 101st Forward Support Battalion and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas (2005-2006), and other logistical and operational positions from platoon to brigade support. She has deployed in support of combat and special operations to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, and Qatar for Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Inherent Resolve. COL Matthew is married to LTC Chris Matthew and they have two sons.
