CPT Lucas Ruff commissioned as an Infantry officer through the United States Military Academy in 2015. He served in several positions in 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2016-2017 as a rifle platoon leader and Company Intelligence Support Team leader. In 2019, he transitioned to the Military Intelligence Corps and graduated from the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course. As an MI officer, he was assigned to the 525th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Battalion, where he commanded a Multi-Domain Military Intelligence Detachment in reach support of Operations Allies Refuge and European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce. While at 525 E-MIB, CPT Ruff completed his M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech. In 2023, CPT Ruff began as an instructor with the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department at West Point.
