MAJ Michael P. Ferguson

MAJ Ferguson enlisted in the infantry in 2004 and earned the rank of sergeant first class before commissioning from San Diego State University in 2015 as a military intelligence officer. He served in various assignments from platoon leader to task force senior intelligence officer in the 101st Airborne Division, Ranger Training Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (the Netherlands), and 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade. While serving in these assignments, he completed tours to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa.

MAJ Ferguson holds a MA in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a MS in Homeland Security from San Diego State University, and a BS in criminal justice from the University of Phoenix. As an Americanist, he specializes in modern U.S. history and Cold War military policy. His dissertation project examines the friction between grand strategy and military strategy induced by President Eisenhower's policy of massive retaliation and considers how his joint chiefs of staff interpreted victory in the nuclear age. 

MAJ Ferguson's other publications extend from his research on the history of disinformation and the relationship between emerging military technologies and theories of success.
