LTC Miguel A. Sanchez was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in exercise sciences from Florida State University, where he commissioned as a Military Police Officer from ROTC in August 2006. He served as a Gold Bar Recruiter in Tallahassee, FL, then attended Basic Officer Leaders Course at Fort Sill, OK , and MP Basic Officer Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 92nd MP Battalion at Fort Benning, GA, where he deployed to Iraq as a Platoon Leader with the 988th MP Company in support of OIF/OEF. Upon redeployment, the unit relocated to Fort Leonard Wood, where he served in the Battalion S3, then attended the MP Captains Career Course while completing his master’s degree in Business and Organizational Security Management. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Fort Jackson, where he was the 4-10th IN Battalion S3 before assuming command of the 17th MP Detachment and the 208th MP Military Working Dog Detachment. Upon completion, he served as the Battalion XO for 2-348th Training Support Battalion in Fort Buchanan, PR. 

He was selected to attend the Resident Command and General Staff Officer Course at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, Fort Benning, where he graduated in the Commandant’s List. He then deployed to Saudi Arabia, where he served as the Office of the Program Manager - Saudi Arabia National Guard Western Region Security Advisor. Upon completion, he was assigned as the 18th MP Brigade Plans Chief and closed his tour in Germany as the 709th MP Battalion S3. He then served as the USAG-West Point Provost Marshal and Director of Emergency Services, before his current assignment as the United States Military Academy Prep School Deputy Commandant. 

LTC Sanchez’s Military Education additionally includes Special Reaction Team Phase I, Airborne School, Conventional Physical Security/Crime Prevention Training, Company Intelligence Support Team Training, Anti-Terrorism Basic Officer Course, and Operational Security Level II Training, Company Commander/First Sergeant Course, First Army Observer, Coach/Trainer (OC/T) Academy, Mission Command Training Officer (MCTO), Strategist (6Z ASI), and Installation Management (6Y ASI).  

LTC Sanchez’s Military Awards and Decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaves), Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3 Oak Leaves), National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon,  Overseas Service Ribbon (4 Tours), Mississippi Emergency Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, and the German Armed Forces Military Efficiency Badge (Gold).
