Nate grew up in Joplin, MO, and graduated from USMA, class of 2015, with a degree in mathematical sciences. He ran cross-country and track during his time at the U.S. Military Academy and served as cross-country team captain his senior year. Nate branched Armor and spent a year at Fort Moore for training. He met and married his wife, Jamie, and welcomed her son, Luke, into their family. 

He was stationed at Fort Liberty and served as a Platoon Leader in 3-73 CAV during deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan. He was then reassigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, serving as Troop Commander in 8-1 CAV and BDE HHC Commander for 2BDE, 7ID. Following command, he was reassigned to the National Training Center as an Observer/Coach/Trainer on Scorpion Team. Nate received his master's degree in applied mathematics from the Naval Postgraduate School.
