Dr. Ray Fredrick is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Education and Character Integrator in the Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. Prior to West Point, he was an assistant professor at Queens College, City University of New York. Dr. Fredrick's teaching and research focus on issues of sport, character, and education. He has investigated attitudinal influences on youth physical activity in addition to collaborating on research examining reflective and educational approaches to teaching character and health through sport.
He is the author of articles and book chapters on youth development and the analysis of attitude in youth organizations. Dr. Fredrick earned his Ed.D. and M.A. degrees in curriculum and teaching in physical education from Teachers College, Columbia University. He earned his B.S. in political science from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point.
