The West Point Center for the Rule of Law (CROL) and the Department of Law & Philosophy (DELPHI) offer a lecture series to expose cadets to the insights and perspectives of leading legal figures.
Each semester, a leading scholar, jurist, senior government official, or military officer presents a lecture to cadets majoring in law. The spring lecture is named after Ron A. Salvatore, whose generous contributions established the lecture series. The fall lecture is named after MG(R) Michael J. Nardotti Jr., USMA class of 1969 and former Judge Advocate General of the Army.
Previous lecturers include - among others - Harvard Law School Dean Martha Minow, New York City District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Yale Law Professor John Witt, Judge Advocate General Lieutenant General Flora Darpino, attorney Floyd Abrams, former mayor of New York City Rudolph Giuliani, former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Warren Burger, and Columbia University President Lee Bollinger.
Ron A. Salvatore retired from the United States Military Academy (USMA) as Academy Counsel and Special Assistant to the Staff Judge Advocate. A graduate of Gannon College and Catholic University's Columbus School of Law, he served for over nine years on active duty in the Army JAG Corps. He remained a member of the Army Reserves until 1977, when he retired as a colonel with 30 years of service. Mr. Salvatore began serving as a civilian attorney for USMA in 1977.
