CPT Ross Ito is an Instructor of American Politics in the Department of Social Sciences. His research interests include security cooperation, institutional capacity building, and U.S.-Latin American relations. He commissioned into the Corps of Engineers. Ross is a graduate of the Spanish-language Maneuver Captain Career Course at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) at Fort Benning, Georgia. He participated in the U.S. State Deparment's Critical Language Scholarship, studying Portuguese in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has spent extended time in Panama, Brazil, Spain, and Colombia. Ross holds a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Miami, an MBA and M.S. in Business Analytics from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington, and an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). At SAIS he specialized in Strategic Studies and Latin America. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Ross is conversant in Spanish and Portuguese. Born and raised in Maui, Hawaii, Ross enjoys the outdoors and staying active. A lifelong Boy Scout since 1998, he enjoys volunteering with local troops to give back to the community.
