Dr. Russ Lachance currently serves as an associate professor, associate dean, director of Academic Advising, and deputy registrar at the United States Military Academy.  He is a proud member of the West Point Class of 1985 – “For Excellence We Strive” (B.S. – chemistry Concentration). He earned his M.S. (1995) and Ph.D. (2005) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in chemical engineering.  

Until his retirement in 2014, Russ served in the Army as an engineer officer in a variety of assignments in the 25th ID, 1st AD, 3rd ID, and V Corps. 

At West Point, Russ has served as a member of faculty, Chemical Engineering Academy Professor, and acting deputy head in the Department of Chemistry and Life Science (now the Department of & Chemical & Biological Science & Engineering) as well as the associate dean for Curriculum and Assessment. He teaches courses in chemistry and chemical engineering, and his research interests include waste-to-energy conversion and student success.  

Russ and his wife Lisa are proud members of the “2% Club” and have enjoyed an awesome Army life with their four adult children and extended family.
