CPT Sarah Elizabeth Schreck

CPT Sarah Schreck serves as an instructor in the Geography and Earth Sciences Department. She is an Engineer Officer with a background in Army Special Operations. CPT Schreck commissioned in 2016 from the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). She deployed to Iraq with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), serving as the Regiment Engineer during combat operations. 

As the Commander of Headquarters Support Company (HSC), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), CPT Schreck deployed to Romania for 10 months in support of Operation Assure, Deter, and Reinforce, the NATO response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Previously, she served as both the Executive Officer and later the Company Commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) and Alpha Company, 2-47 Infantry Regiment, at Fort Benning, GA.

CPT Schreck holds two master’s degrees: one in geological engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T), and another in ecology from Utah State University (USU), with an emphasis in plant, soil, and climate science. Her thesis at USU explored innovative horticultural methods for growing crops in reduced gravity environments. During her time at USU, she was also a member of an interdisciplinary research team that designed and built a plant growth chamber, currently scheduled to launch to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2026.
