Stephen Finn directs the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) as part of the Dean’s Staff. He is an associate professor who teaches philosophy and ethical reasoning, as well as the philosophy of religion. He was associate director of West Point's CFE from 2009-22. Before coming to West Point, he taught philosophy at Seattle University from 2000-09. 

His research interests include modern philosophy (specifically the philosophy of Thomas Hobbes), the philosophy of sports, and teaching ethics. He lives in Chappaqua, NY, with his wife and two sons. He is also a 5-time national champion in the sport of ultimate Frisbee, an inductee in the Ultimate Hall of Fame (class of 2024) and the coach of the Cadet ultimate team.
