CPT Thomas Hoyt is an Engineer Officer and an instructor in the Department of Systems Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with Honors from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and a Master of Science in System Design and Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Prior to commissioning, CPT Hoyt served as a machine gunner in the United States Marine Corps. During that time, he completed two combat deployments in Helmand Province, Afghanistan (OEF) in 2010-2011 with the 1st Marine Division and 2012 with the 2nd Marine Division. After graduating from West Point in 2016, CPT Hoyt attended EBOLC and then served as a Sapper Platoon Leader (Armored) and Company Executive Officer in the 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division (1ID) at Fort Riley, KS. As a member of 1ID, he completed rotational deployments to South Korea and Poland and took 2nd place at the 2018 Best Sapper Competition. He then served as the Master Planner and Facility Engineer for the 1st Engineer Brigade in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After completing ECCC, he deployed to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (OSS/OIR) to assist in establishing a persistent Army presence in Jordan and southern Syria with Area Support Group-Jordan as the HHC Commander from 2021 to 2023. CPT Hoyt is a graduate of the Sapper Leader Course and Air Assault Course.
 

In 2025, CPT Hoyt joined the faculty of the Department of Systems Engineering at the United States Military Academy. CPT Thomas Hoyt is married to his classmate, CPT Sarah Hoyt. They have one son, Mark (age 7).
