MAJ Zara M. Scribner

MAJ Zara M. Scribner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Philosophy at the United States Military Academy, West Point, where she teaches the National Security Law (LW482) elective.

Prior to joining the faculty, MAJ Scribner served in a variety of legal roles as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army. Her previous assignments include Student Detachment Commander at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia; Brigade Judge Advocate for the 25th Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade; Deputy Chief of Administrative Law for the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Trial Defense Counsel and Special Victim Counsel at Fort Cavazos, Texas; and Legal Assistance Attorney at West Point, New York.

Before commissioning into the Army in 2014, MAJ Scribner practiced tax law in New York from 2012–2014. She earned her Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law and is a member of the New York Bar. She is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.

MAJ Scribner holds two Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees: one in Contract and Fiscal Law from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School, and another in National Security Law from the University of Virginia School of Law. She earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri in 2007 and worked in the fashion industry as a journalist and merchandiser prior to her legal career.
