MAJ Casey Smith is from Midway, Utah. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2013 with as a Spanish major. He commissioned as an Armor Officer and served as a Reconnaissance Platoon Leader and Troop Executive Officer while assigned to 8-1 CAV at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. 

In 2017, he attended the Civil Affairs Qualification Course. He worked with the Panamanian National Police and Panamanian Department of Education as a Civil Affairs Team Leader in Panama. As an Operations Officer, he deployed to Honduras as a member of the Regional Civil Military Support Element responsible for assisting in the command and control of all Special Operations Forces in Central America and the Caribbean. Later, he served as the liaison for his battalion to the Theater Special Operations Command, SOCSOUTH. 

MAJ Smith completed his Master of Arts in Latin American Studies at the University of Utah in 2023 and is now a Spanish instructor at USMA. He lives in Cornwall, New York, with his wife and their two children.
