MAJ Ermin Mujezinovic was born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He immigrated to the United States in 2001 as a war refugee. Ermin earned a Master of Arts in Russian, Eurasian, and East European Studies from Columbia University’s Harriman Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science with a minor in Spanish from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). 


MAJ Mujezinovic was commissioned as an Infantry officer and served at Fort Hood, TX, and Korea as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Battalion Adjutant Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer. In 2018, he became a Civil Affairs Officer, deployed to Germany, and served as a desk officer for eight countries in the Balkans. In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, MAJ Mujezinovic deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia as a Civil Affairs Team Leader. 


Following his assignment at West Point, Ermin will be moving to Europe as a 48E (European Foreign Area Officer, FAO).


MAJ Mujezinovic is a former NCAA DI Cross Country and Track athlete at VMI who currently aims to complete all six major world marathons. So far, he has run Chicago in 2:35, the New York City Marathon in 2:46, Boston in 2:38, and the Berlin Marathon in 2:32:32, averaging 5:45 per mile. He is racing the New York City Marathon in November, intending to run under 2:30 at an average pace of 5 minutes and 41 seconds per mile. Two years ago, he won the Cross Country National with the All-Army team, and this year, he has been selected by Puma Project 3 as an athlete.
