CBSE Prospective Rotating Military Faculty

CBSE Prospective Rotating Military Faculty

Join the CBSE Team

The Department of Chemical & Biological Science & Engineering (CBSE) is interested in qualified officers (usual captains at the 5-7 years time-in-service mark) that hold an undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or biology, to attend two years of graduate school for the purpose of obtaining a master’s degree in a chemistry, chemical engineering, or biology-related field, followed by a three-year assignment to the CBSE as one of our rotating faculty. Selection is based on a successful career, including company (battery, troop) command, undergraduate performance, GRE scores, and willingness to participate in the program. All instructors teach at least one year in the general chemistry course to plebes (freshmen), and may, based on their interest level, branch out to teach an elective course.

What Would I Be Teaching?

The department continually seeks talented faculty who are experts in the disciplines that comprise our majors and minor – chemical engineering, chemistry, biology – and are committed to enhancing the education and development of cadets.

What Are Some Opportunities to Advance in My Career?

The Department of Chemical & Biological Science & Engineering's research centers offer a robust selection of research, scholarship, collaboration, and professional development opportunities to help our faculty remain at the forefront of their disciplines.

Learn More About CBSE

The mission of the Chemical & Biological Science & Engineering is to educate cadets with a firm foundation in the fields of chemistry, biology, and chemical engineering so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character who can leverage their understanding of science to implement solutions using appropriate problem-solving skills; and to inspire cadets to a career in the U.S. Army and a lifetime of personal growth and service to the nation.

Other Opportunities

It takes a team to ensure the U.S. Military Academy at West Point can fulfill its mission to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets. There are roles for military and civilian faculty to teach cadets and for those both in and out of uniform to ensure the systems and processes required to operate a military installation and college campus are in place and running efficiently.
